Last Friday the 20th June, was the arranged monthly KAP (Kernow Art Apprection) outing again after a break in Busy May. This time we had chosen the fairly new art location of Kestle Barton on the Lizard http://www.kestlebarton.co.uk. After following their plentiful and clear signs for what seems like to the end of the world, the cob and granite barns of Kestle Barton finally came into view. Their gorgeous exhibition hall showcases artists and their work as well as host workshops and events. The sun was beaming down on us as we found our way through the exhibition to the back of the building where a stunning garden opened up to us (designed by james Alexander-Sinclair). Shade was found and cake was ate whilst we chatted about the exhibition and shared views and insights. So far a small but intimate group KAP is still very much inviting anyone interested in sharing the experience of appreciating art around Cornwall, to join in one afternoon a month (usually 2-5pm). Out of the art currently on display we were particularly drawn to the garden sculpture by Anthony Bryant, which rose in majesty within one of the gardens more separate green rooms. The piece is called Huddle and is built up from beautifully formed wooden oak spheres (see image to right). Next KAP outing will happen in July with the destination of Enys House nr Penryn for the Artist Trail, see link for more information; http://www.enysgardens.org.uk/gardens/events/ Hope to see you there! Until then, have a continually arty summer! Summer wishes, Sara |
