Libra Eclipse –Releasing and Shifting our Relationship Patterns
On the 2nd of October 2024r we have our second eclipse of this pair; a solar eclipse in Libra at 10 degrees.
Wherever you have Libra in your chart will see the themes of relational dynamics, patterns around attachments along with balancing our needs with those of others.
Libra energy has the flavour of the archetype of Friend, Diplomat and Peacemaker, but can struggle with dependency, over-giving and indecisiveness. Perhaps a dynamic in a close relationship comes to your attention which feels unequal and non-reciprocal. Libra invites us to negotiate and be fair, but from a place of first honouring our own needs and wishes in order to bring those to the conversation with another. From there a mutual win-win situation can be agreed, rather than keeping it too safe in order to avoid rocking the boat or disturbing the peace.
Vulnerability and intensity can also come up at this time as Venus, the ruler of Libra and hence the ruler or this eclipse itself, is in the sign of Scorpio. The relating style brought about by Venus in Scorpio is not afraid to dig deep and look something difficult in the eye. This brings a raw, vulnerable and intimate flavour to this eclipse wildcard time.
In light of the unexpected nature of eclipses it is worth watching how we might react in defence to feeling threatened and attacked (Scorpio). A cornered Scorpio can be lethal, usually through psychological warfare, pushing our most tender buttons.
However, as always in evolutionary astrology, we invite the higher manifestations of the sign, and with Libra and Scorpio energy teaming up, there could be some beautiful and healing insights and interactions to any trauma connected to relationships experienced in the past, unconsciously affecting our behaviour in connections.
Venus in Scorpio is at this time part of a water grand trine with flowing, supporting energy from Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces. Mars in Cancer brings in courage to connect to emotions and sensitivity, fiercely protecting our Inner Child and asserting its feelings strongly. This can also come up as emotional triggers and held back anger surfacing from childhood.
Saturn in Pisces also adds to the conversation with maturity, healthy boundaries, karmic wisdom accumulated, and a certain backbone to overcome friction in relationships which does not initially feel easy, from a compassionate, kind Piscean perspective.
There is an invitation with this energy to reflect on how we were modelled relationships growing up. If our first experience of close relationships, usually of parent and caregivers, were not fair, kind and acceptant of different view-points (Libra), we might have lack examples of what healthy relationships look like. Often we can then hold an unconscious expectation of our own relationships as similar to that of our parents, whilst wondering why they are dysfunctional and one-sided.
The key is to bring awareness to our own default behaviour and then trust ourselves to shift to our desired dynamic, however that looks for you. Not easy, but the energy is here to support such a change.
This Eclipse certainly gives us an opportunity to leave behind old relationship patterns through understanding and healing, and to let new, more balanced, mutual ways of connecting emerge!
